I've heard about makeup primer, but does it work for keeping eyeshadow from creasing? How do you use it? Are there any other ways to keep it from creasing?
Thanks! How do you keep eyeshadow from creasing? Makeup primer?
There is a primer/eyeshadow base specifically for eyeshadow which helps it from creasing and stay on longer. Some help make the eyeshadow color more vibrant. Here a some to name a few:
Loreal De-Crease eyeshadow base
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Studio Gear Shadow Primer
You would just blend it all over your eye lid and then apply your eyeshadow.

I agree with everyone suggesting the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion $16 from Sephora.
IT'S THE BEST!!! :D
Even though the shape of the bottle is really cool...
It's kind of difficult to get the stuff when it's almost empty.
But here's a video to help you maximize the amount you use so you won't have to waste your money so soon:

Yes! You should always apply an eye base before applying your eyeshadow. I highly suggest URBAN DECAY PRIMER POTION. It works like magic! No creasing. No nothing. i love it! It's $16.00 online and at Sephora, I believe. It comes with a slanted sponge-tip applicanter sort of thing. You can either blend it out with your clean fingers, of course, or simply use a clean brush.
Make sure that your lids are clean and as dry as possible before applying shadow. Also, the product should not contain oil. I use a loose translucent (no color) powder by aularale.com/7002 before/after applying mine and that works well for me. I don't find a need for primer.
I use Urban Decay Primer Potion. The only downside with buying that one specifically is that unless you depot it from the bottle it comes in, you're wasting product!!! Check out this depot video...seems like a lot of work...and why don't most people use a handsaw? It seems more dangerous with a kitchen knife...

I like Pur Minerals Eye Primer or MAC's Prep + Prime both you can find for 16-17 bucks, plus the MAC comes in different tones so it will help even out your eyelid if you're like me and have dark lids (and dark circles). Or I heard that the MAC paint pots work pretty well too if you buy a neutral tone.
Try Too Faced First Base or Shadow Insurance lid primers, the work great for shadows. They run about $16-$17 at Sephora but they last FOREVER.
Btw, I do makeup for a living if that gives it any credibility :-)
urban decay primer potion works like a charm just put some on your lids b4 your eyeshadow and watch this video to get the most out of the product

i was reading in a magazine about how to put on eye make up and it said that you should first put on an eye base or some thing like that so that it doesn't end up in your crease.
hope this helps!!
