What can I use instead of makeup primer to keep my eyeshadow lasting long?

I'm going to my friends Prom next week and I want my eye shadow to last all night. So I was wondering if there is any other product or trick I could use to keep it lasting longer? Maybe even a certain type of eyeshadow? Sadly only Drug store brands, I'm on a strict budget. What can I use instead of makeup primer to keep my eyeshadow lasting long?
In my professional opinion, it's not a great idea to prime your eyelid with foundation or concealer. The skin around and on your eye is not only delicate, but it moves a lot more than the rest of your face, so things that aren't specifically designed for your eye lid have a tendency to crease or smear, which is worse than just having them fade away.

Depending on the shadow you're using, sometimes using it wet will help it stay on longer. I say -sometimes- because not all shadows are intended to use wet or dry and the ones that aren't getting them wet will probably ruin them.

My advice, if you're only looking for something to help you out on this one night, go to Sephora and ask for a sample of Too Faced Shadow Insurance. It's the easiest eye shadow primer to sample and it works really well and will be more than enough to fix you up for prom. =)What can I use instead of makeup primer to keep my eyeshadow lasting long?
when i do my makeup i apply liquid foundation with a flat brush all over my face and including my eyelids and then follow with powder to set my foundation [even on my eyelids], then i just follow with eyeshadow, liner, etc.

it keeps my makeup looking fresh all day and i don't have to spend extra money on primer, seals, etc.

good luck :]
If you have some concealer, it is thicker than your regular foundation, dab it onto your eyelids with your ring fingers, and then apply eyeshadow over top! You don't even have to buy new eyeshadow.
Vaseline
cream eyeshadow or gel eyeliner.
